What was Abraham thinking when he was told to take his son to be offered as a sacrifice? I’m sure he wasn’t like me saying: HUH?” but did he question God? Were doubts that he had heard God’s voice in his mind, or was he so close to the Lord that he knew that he knew that it was His voice?
There are some wonderful insights in the Book of Jasher I want to share with you now. I believe that this book that was mentioned twice in the old testament is a must read, as there’s knowledge in it that’ll broaden your understanding of some of the stories in the Bible, like this: Before the Lord had called Abraham to leave the land of his birth, he and his brother Haran were cast into a furnace of fire just as the three Hebrew children also had been in Daniel’s day. I was struck by the fact that Abram was kept alive untouched, but that Haran died, burned to ashes. The Book of Jasher relayed that it was BECAUSE Haran’s heart was “not perfect with the Lord.” Ah, but Abraham’s was, and I think that this revelation along with these verses answered my question: Satan “appeared in the figure of a very aged man, humble and of contrite spirit saying that this thing could not be from the Lord…. that the Lord could not do such evil upon earth to say to him: ‘Go slaughter your child.” (Chapter 23: 25- 28) How many would have believed Satan’s words, but faithful Abraham did NOT doubt that he had heard from God. He KNEW that it was Satan tempting him, and he rebuked him.
I am writing about this now because more than at any other time, we need to know the voice of God…. Our lives are dependent on it, and who we associate with does matter. All of us are aware that we’re not to have fellowship with the world, but how many understand that Christians living in sin bring death with them? An old testament law stated not to touch the dead, pointing to present day truth that we are not to touch disobedient ones who are dead in trespasses and sins. 1 Corinthians 5: 11, 13 warns us “not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother, be a fornicator, or a covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one, no not to eat.” We’re to “put away that wicked person.” Hear it: The Word of God calls those brethren “WICKED.” These are such clear words, but they’ve been disregarded by many.
How can we know what people are doing unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to us, eh? So we need to be sensitive to the Spirit in order to discern the ones who have life and the ones who bring death, even though they may operate in the gifts of the Spirit and talk a good talk.
A little while ago the Lord gave me a vision of a sister carrying something that had what looked like dark smoke coming out of it, and the Word of the Lord came saying that “she was bringing trouble everywhere she went because of unforgiveness.”This lines up with Hebrews 12: 14-15 which states that “defilement” (trouble,) bitterness, and unforgiveness are all tied together. The Lord had me to share the vision and the word I was given, and when I did, prophecy came as well, with our Father calling her His “precious daughter.” He told her that He “dearly loved her,” and words to the effect that she was not to remain in the state of unforgiveness
Oh brethren, how we need to pay attention to the rise and fall of the Spirit in us and be aware that if brethren do not forgive, trouble and defilement come not just to them, but to us and to others with whom they associate. We’re also to consider that our callings are different, and because they are, we can’t have intimate fellowship with everyone. A toe cell isn’t connected directly to a pancreas cell, is it? There are 30, 60 and 100 fold Christians, and if someone is called to be in a more productive group, he or she won’t rise to full potential unless fellowship is had with those with the same calling. “Selection” being of God was shown in Jesus choosing twelve disciples and then three with whom He was more intimate.
Though it’s true God’s will is that all who are in the body of Christ be one in the faith, only those who see eye to eye in Zion will be part of the remnant, and there will be separation because of it. Old Jerusalem and New Jerusalem are not the same. Those who go by the letter of the law and those who don’t obey God will be in bondage which Old Jerusalem typifies, and those who walk in the law of love and obey Him will be free and part of the New Jerusalem. These, when fully perfected, aren’t going to be asking: ”Is that you God?” They’re going to KNOW!
So you whose spots and wrinkles are almost gone, get that Cinderella foot of yours ready to fit the shoe you’ve been called to walk in, and kick the devil out like Abraham did…..THEN the world’s gonna know that God’s Bride is ALIVE and KICKIN’!
