The breakfast bell (the holy sound and word of God) rang in my mind first thing this morning as I woke up from a sound sleep. There’s nothing better than God’s food for thought given by His sweet voice, eh? The word “Siloam”, was not one that I was able to immediately chew on. While I did remember two occasions in the new testament in which Siloam was mentioned, I didn’t know what they had to personally reveal to me, so off I went on my treasure hunt hungry to discover God’s message through this word. When He put the mud in the blind man’s eye, our Lord was doing a wonder through it for Him. Now I think He’s saying to each of us: “Here’s mud in YOUR eye! Cheers! You’re going to drink the wine of My word!”

After getting a little sniff of its spiritual aroma, I checked online to learn more than I knew and found some interesting facts. I was especially stirred when I read this type and shadow of the blind man at the pool:

“The brain of a baby whose eyes work fine has to learn how to interpret what the eyes pass on to it. A baby whose eyes are functioning still sees nothing until the brain has formed the ability to see through experience. Someone who’s been blind since birth and who is abruptly healed won’t suddenly see the world as seeing people do…. Starting to see after a lifetime of being blind is much more mind blowing than going blind after a lifetime of seeing. Healing a man who’s been blind since birth virtually requires the death of the blind person and his resurrection as a seeing person.” (Abarim Publications)

Aren’t we at a point just like this in our spiritual journey at the time we leave the elementary things in the scriptures to go on into perfection? It’s a death, isn’t it, when what we’re familiar with has to be let go? We truly can’t see what’s next until we wash away the old and let the new word into our thinking which can then cause our eyes to see. The word “Siloam” means “sent”, so yes, we are being sent now into a new realm that has a new seeing.

There’s a connection between the blind man and the tower (something raised up in stone in our minds which needs to come down) that killed 18 people in Siloam. (Luke 13: 4) Jesus asked: “Do you think these Galileans were worse sinners than others because they suffered these things?” and then answered his own question with an emphatic “No!” (Luke 13: 2,3)

When Jesus hung on the cross, His words were: “Forgive them, they know not what they do.” (Luke 23: 24) ALL of us, not just some, are blind… even those of us who have received Jesus Christ as our savior, for doesn’t the scripture say that “we see IN PART”? This means we still have some blindness, eh?

However there is a blindness that’s good: In Isaiah 42: 16- 20 it is written: “And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make the darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

Hear ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

Who is blind but my servant? or deaf, as my messengers that I have SENT? Who is blind as he that is PERFECT, and blind as the Lord’s servant?

Seeing many things, but thou observeth not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness sake…”

We all have had the same mindset the people of “Siloam” had about tragedies being a direct result of people’s sins. Truly this is a great tower that must come down if we want to be healed… if we want to see as God sees.

How many of us are crying out to see manifestations of healing, deliverance and answers to our prayers for provisions, and have been like that other blind man who waited for 38 years? With some of us, it’s been even more than that. Can it partially be because our reasoning carnal minds have continually judged ourselves and others?… We SEE the sins, but don’t realize that we don’t see as God sees when we do this.

Look at what God said to Adam and Eve after they sinned. He DID NOT say: “WHAT did you do?” Instead He asked: “WHERE are you?” Are we looking at WHAT people do, instead of finding out where they are spiritually and leading them to heavenly places in Christ Jesus? Are we sending people to hell in our thinking or are we sending arrows of deliverance their way- … arrows of power, love, forgiveness and new life?

I heard the words: “Separate yourself from this UNTOWARD generation!” We are all part of this generation that can’t go forward until we go on into perfection. “Untoward” according to Webster’s Dictionary means: 1. “difficult to guide, manage or work with.” 2. “marked by trouble or unhappiness.” Its etymology is: “originally not showing an inclination or aptitude for something” and one of its synonyms is “perverse.”

THIS is the very word spoken by Jesus when His disciples could not cast the demon out of the young boy who had seizures: “Oh faithless and PERVERSE generation, how long shall I be with you?”

Think of it: The disciples had been healing the sick, casting out demons and knew success in the situations they faced. Likewise, many in the church today are casting out demons and healing the sick knowing some successes, but the Lord is showing us in this statement that it’s going to take a NEW GENERATION to do the greater works that He said we would do… EVERYONE who came to Jesus got healed, but not so with us, because the old generation is not capable of it… It is “UNTOWARD!”

But hallelujah, there is a remnant moving toward perfection… When His disciples asked why they couldn’t cast out the demon, Jesus answered: “This kind (of unbelief) can only come out by prayer and fasting!”

The question to us now is: How many of us are going to loose ourselves from this perverse generation? How many will hear God’s breakfast bell and choose to eat His word instead of the dainties of this world?

Is not this the fast that God has chosen: “To lose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? when you see the naked that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself from your own flesh?”

Oh what promises… what life… what joy when we do this! Come my brethren, let us pray for one another and help each other to press on TOWARD the prize! We can win it! Oh yes, we can because we have mud in our eyes… healing mud!
